La région bordelaise accueille Le Jardin d’Ivresse, la première création végétale dédiée aux vins. Un projet paysager unique au monde, à l’initiative du Château Larrivet Haut-Brion, Propriété de l’appellation Pessac-Léognan, qui se distingue par sa singularité et .....

..... son esprit novateur. Cet espace onirique, conçu autour de l’analogie vins/ jardins, invite les amateurs de grands millésimes et de nature à découvrir une scénographie végétale unique. La famille Gervoson, à l’initiative de ce projet, a fait appel à l’artiste Soline Portmann pour concevoir ce lieu, qui vient encore enrichir une offre oenotouristique, déjà riche dans la région.

Le point de départ de l’aventure du « Jardin d’ivresse » fut la création d’un espace valorisant la rose « Demoiselles de Larrivet Haut-Brion ». Une création sur-mesure, réalisée en 2013 par la maison Meilland Richardier, en hommage aux trois filles du couple Gervoson - Emilie, Charlotte et Valentine, qui ont inspiré le second vin éponyme de la propriété.

 .... la nouvelle promesse du Château Larrivet Haut-Brion

Connu pour le charme et l’élégance de ses vins, le Château Larrivet Haut-Brion bénéficie d’un environnement naturel privilégié, composé de parcs, de prairies, de bois et d’étangs. C’est dans cet écrin, que ses propriétaires, Christine et Philippe Gervoson, ont souhaité concevoir un jardin surprenant aux mille et une expressions artistiques et végétales. Sa réalisation a été confiée à Soline Portmann, scénographe-paysagiste talentueuse, sous le regard créatif de leur fille Emilie Gervoson, initiatrice des Oenofolies, un concept de dégustation unique en son genre.

Leur ambition ? Dessiner un paysage évoquant la vigne avec les caractéristiques des vins rouges et vins des blancs du château. De cette réflexion est née une composition scénographique et végétale originale, rappelant les maîtres-mots des grands vins de la propriété : équilibre et complexité.

Soline Portmann : scénographe paysagiste

Soline Portmann pense le jardin comme un espace a mettre en scène. Pas étonnant, lorsque l’on connaît le parcours de cette jeune femme, diplômée de scénographie à l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris, mais aussi passionnée par le végétal. Ce double regard lui permet aujourd’hui de concevoir des jardins à la manière de scènes à ciel ouvert. Ainsi, elle conçoit des espaces paysagers et les fait vivre, en s’interrogeant à chaque fois sur les frontières habituelles : l’intérieur et l’extérieur, le culturel et le naturel, l’éphémère et le durable.

Une expérience paysagère riche en émotions

Les visiteurs du château peuvent ainsi d’ores et déjà admirer, depuis le chai, sa structure land art déployée tout en perspective, dans l’esprit d’une parcelle de vigne. Conçue autour de piquets rappelant le vignoble, la circulation s’organise entre chaque rang et offre la possibilité d’y déambuler à sa guise, tout en étant guidé. Comme le rappelle Emilie Gervoson : « Il s’agit du même principe que lors de la dégustation d’un vin. L’interprétation gustative est libre, mais à partir d’une structure tannique bien définie ».

Cette mise en scène s’inscrit pleinement dans l’analogie vins/ jardins souhaitée par les propriétaires du château. Ainsi, chaque création du Château Larrivet Haut-Brion trouvera par la suite sa traduction végétale (arômes, couleurs, textures...) pour les vins blancs comme pour les vins rouges. « Les différentes essences choisies renforceront encore ce parallèle, en rappelant l’art de l’assemblage et du travail parcellaire, mené par le château. Le visiteur sera invité à faire une expérience paysagère, comme l’on fait une expérience esthétique ou gustative », souligne Soline Portmann.

Enfin, la composition chromatique progressive évoquera les couleurs nuancées prises par les vins, selon les saisons et leur cycle de vieillissement. Ainsi, l’émotion ressentie à la vue du Jardin d’Ivresse sera « de l’ordre du spectaculaire discret et raffiné », selon les mots de Soline Portmann, évoquant dans une même formule l’identité sensorielle du jardin et l’image des grands vins du Château Larrivet Haut-Brion.

À la manière d’un grand vin, la composition végétale du Jardin d’Ivresse prendra le temps de s’épanouir. Ainsi, elle atteindra au fil des années sa complète maturité et laissera s’exprimer tout son potentiel.

Abbaye de Fontfroide - A fascinating Abbey and Wine Producer

"The Fontfroide Abbey is located in a valley of the Massif des Corbières, about fifteen kilometers from Narbonne, in what is today called Cathar country. The abbey has survived the centuries and eras, each leaving traces great period in its buildings. Steeped in history and emotion, than try to make you share speakers every day during their visits , the abbey also visit freely, for a more personal and confidential approach.

Fontfroide the Middle Ages

Founded in 1093 by some Benedictine monks, the abbey is linked in 1145 to the Cistercian Order . She knows its development and becomes a great and powerful abbey, certainly one of the largest of Christianity. Thanks to many donations, wealth is increasing, and in the thirteenth century. The community has about 25,000 hectares of land. It was also at this time that the number of religious is more important, the abbey sheltering monks and 80 lay brothers 250-300.
Very quickly, Fontfroide will have to join in the political-religious life with the arrival in the region of a 'new' religion, that of the Cathars . The monks left the cloister and church, to preach and try to convince the people to remain faithful to the Church. Nevertheless, Catharism is growing and gaining momentum. Ultimately, it is the murder of a Cistercian monk of Fontfroide, Pierre de Castelnau, which will precipitate the Albigensian Crusade.
Jacques Fournier, abbot of Fontfroide became Bishop of Pamiers (Ariege), will head for his great court of inquisition before becoming Pope, under the name of Benedict XII (pope of Avignon). His story is told you by E. Le Roy Ladurie in Montaillou Occitan village.
The glorious era of Fontfroide stops abruptly at XIV, with the Black Death of 1348: about 80 monks, only twenty will survive.

Fontfroide sixteenth until the French Revolution

While the Cistercian Order was founded in reaction against the evolution of the Benedictines and their distance from the rigorous spirit of the Ruler of St Benedict, the Cistercian monks will eventually suffer the same release. Religious leave their dorm to move into more comfortable cells, improve their daily table, beautify the Abbey. The 12 monks and 6 buy coffee and chocolate, have sedan chairs and even play pool!
The Abbey also known setting system Commende : the King of France imposes its abbots, nobles mostly, who are only there to enjoy the revenues of Fontfroide. The abbey will undergo further transformations, the abbots 'commendatory' certainly not want to live in an austere and stripped abbey rebirths openings appear, a Court of Honor is built, the Italian gardens are located.
The French Revolution put an end to monastic life and set Commende, Fontfroide will be given to Hospices of Narbonne in 1791.

Fontfroide XIX to today

The abbey will be reoccupied by some monks from 1848 . Twelve Cistercian monks of the Abbey of Sénanque (Gordes) settle in places that had not been maintained for several centuries already, and who had gone through so much that hurt the Revolution. With few means, the religious will make only a few restored. Church deparation of Laws and State provoke their departure to Spain.
In 1908, Gustave and Madeleine Fayet buy the abbey. Artist, curator of the Museum, collector, Gustave Fayet is undertaking a major campaign of restoration and redecoration of Fontfroide. Today, their descendants, still owner, continue the restoration, thanks to you, dear visitors!"
